Chapter 25

More Truths Revealed

Approaching the address she was given, Chanae pulled into the wrap around driveway and spotted Zariya’s Benz. She parked her car right behind hers and killed the engine. Just sitting there in the car staring at the house, she became lost in her own thoughts. For some odd reason she had butterflies in her stomach and was almost scared to even get out the car. Not really knowing for a fact if Kalil hated her now or not made her nervous as hell. Chanae was really hoping that he will understand her reason for not answering and that it had nothing to do with him in anyway.

Getting ready to get out the car she notices someone walking out the front door talking on their cell phone. Once they turned to face her she sees that it’s Kalil. They made eye contact with each other. Just like that she was right back to being stuck again debating on if she should get out the car or not. Kalil got off the phone and started making his way towards her car which only made her even more nervous.

Knocking on the passenger window and signaling for her to let it down. He waited for her to do just that, once she did he asked in a sarcastic tone, “Are you going to unlock the door and get out or sit here in the car and just stare at the house?”

Swallowing the thump that was caught in her throat she answered with a slight unintentional attitude, “Yes, I was just about to get out before you came over here with your smart comment” Chanae said but really didn’t mean for it to come off like it did.

Chuckling he stated, “You got some damn nerve to have an attitude, if anybody should have a fucking attitude it should be me don’t you think” Kalil started to walk away from the car and back towards the house. He didn’t have time for her bullshit or attitude, she was the one not answering her phone not him. Seeing the direction that things were going in Chanae grabbed the keys out the engine, her cell phone off the charger and exited the car to catch up with him. While shouting for him to wait.

Stopping just before climbing the steps Kalil allowed Chanae to catch up to him because he needed answers and he didn't want to have this discussion in front of the others. Turning to face her his heart tightened he could see it in her eyes although she tried to hide it the hurt and confusion was clear. Chanae stood in front of Kalil unsure of what to say first. The wind blew causing her hair to fly in front of her face and instead of pushing it out where she could see like she normally would, she let the loose strands hide her eyes. Remembering what he said about seeing the truth in a person’s eyes she allowed them to hide hers. Kalil looked down at Chanae and could feel her uneasiness.
